Cecil Haverkamp is a policy and management specialist. He is the Chief of Party for the USAID's ASSIST Project in Botswana, working to strengthen the (community) health system response to HIV/AIDS. Previously, he worked in Botwana advising the government on health sector reform and teaching Development Practice to students at the University of Botswana.
Prior to moving to Southern Africa he worked mostly with the UN and WHO at the global level and was based in Cambodia from 2006-2008. At Harvard University, Mr. Haverkamp served as program manager and coordinated strategic partnerships in global health practice. In 2009, he co-founded with former students ‘Aid 4 Health’, an interdisciplinary simulation of aid negotiations at country level that has since become an annual event across Harvard and Boston, and has aslo expanded to the UK, Botswana and Beijing/China.
