Sonali Vaid

Improvement Advisor, USAID ASSIST Project/URC
In her current role as an Improvement Advisor with the USAID ASSIST project, Sonali supports country teams in Mali, Pakistan and more recently in Swaziland in improving safe injection practices, infection control and health worker safety. In the past she has worked together with colleagues on improving maternal and child health services in Kenya and Uganda.  She also enjoys being involved in URC’s business development and technical leadership activities.
 
Prior to joining URC, Sonali received her Master’s in Public Health in Global Health Policy and Management from the Harvard School of Public Health. While at Harvard she was involved with student groups focused on patient safety in developing countries and implemented the WHO surgical safety checklist at a hospital in India. Sonali has previously worked as a physician in India, working both at a primary health center providing antenatal care and at a tertiary hospital providing critical care and surgical services. These experiences incited her interest for patient safety, quality improvement and health systems strengthening. Her other interests include systems thinking, complexity science, innovation and organizational learning.
