Innovative Approaches to Respond to Gender-Based Violence Tweetchat Relay

16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence Tweetchat Relay

To mark the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence Campaign, the USAID ASSIST Project, Knowledge for Health (K4Health), The Asia Foundation, Promundo, Chemonics, World Vision and The TOPS Program hosted a global tweetchat relay on December 10th to highlight different approaches and responses to prevent and respond to gender-based violence (GBV).

Topics discussed included using improvement approaches to address GBV, responding to GBV within sexual and reproductive health services, access to justice for GBV survivors, engaging men and boys in GBV response efforts, social drivers,  and system strengthening approaches to address GBV. The tweetchat relay was held from 9am to 4pm EST, at the hasthat #GBVchat. The tweetchat relay reached a wide audience, with an estimated reach of 1.2 million unique twitter users.

From 10:00am to 11:00am, the ASSIST team led the global  tweetchat and discussed using improvement approaches to respond to gender-based violence, with guest expert Dr. Taroub Harb Faramand, WI-HER LLC President and Senior Gender Technical Advisor for the USAID ASSIST Project. The tweetchat provoked an important discussion and also informed people about improvement methodologies and how they are relevant to GBV prevention and response. The ASSIST twitter chat reached more than an estimated 375,000 people.

Below is a schedule detailing which organization led which hour of the tweetchat relay.
