With PEPFAR support, ASSIST supported the Ministry of Health in developing and implementing a national strategy to improve the quality of HIV and AIDS services. The project provided intensive support to sites and district health management teams in the five high-burden districts to eliminate new infections among children, reduce HIV-related deaths, increase HIV testing services and ART coverage, improve viral load monitoring, deliver high-quality voluntary medical male circumcision services, and provide nutritional support to HIV patients.  ASSIST also worked with district health management teams in “sustained response” districts to monitor the quality of HIV services. ASSIST worked with the Ministry of Social Development, Community Councils, and community-based organizations to improve their capacity to provide case management services for vulnerable children and their families in the five high-burden districts.
