The project is supporting the Ministry of Public Health to test models to improve the integration of postpartum family planning services into two urban and one rural district.  A primary purpose of the project is to demonstrate scalable, cost-effective approaches to achieve effective coverage of postpartum family planning services. 

Key Activities

  • Test approaches to integrate routine post-partum family planning counseling and contraceptive services into post-partum care in referral and peripheral MOH maternities in an urban and a rural setting
  • Improve quality of post-partum FP counseling and contraceptive services
  • Improve women’s choice and access to long-acting contraceptive methods
  • Develop an implementation package that can be scaled up to other facilities in Niger
