Excel tips for run charts: Annotating run charts using data labels and labeling the secondary y-axis
The first document below explains how to use Excel’s data labels function to annotate run charts.Using data labels instead of call-out boxes is helpful when using dynamic run charts that adjust the time scale of the chart as new data is added, such as the HCI facility database and HCI multi-facility database. Unlike call-out boxes, data labels will move with the data point with which they are associated. Call-out boxes remain in a fixed position on the screen, and when new data is added they will no longer point to the right place.
The second document explains how to use the secondary y-axis on charts with two or more indicators, when one indicator is on a different scale.
